69-year-old man sucker punched, stands ground, helps catch attacker

Tuesday July 29, 2014

MADISON, Wis. --- A 69-year-old man was attacked by a 14 year old boy while walking down a street, according to a Madison police incident report.

The man says a group of five kids came up behind him in the 6500 block of Schroeder Rd. Monday night at 7:00. One of them hit him.

One of the suspects told police a friend hit the man in the back of the head in a "point 'em out, knock 'em out" type of crime.

But the 14-year old did not knock out the older man. Instead the man turned around and called police. And he was able to give police a description of the five kids.

Police took three 14-year-olds, a 13-year-old and a 12-year-old into custody.

The teen accused of doing the punching was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center. The others were released to family.

The teen who was arrested is charged with Battery to an Elderly or At-Risk Individual. The other kids could face charges too.
