UPDATED Tuesday, November 10, 2009 -- 4:45 p.m.
Drivers in Monroe woke up to a costly headache this past weekend.
Police say tires for 15 vehicles were slashed sometime between 10:30 p.m. Friday night and 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
Julie Prochazka has at least six reasons to be upset.
"We had appointments yesterday, I had to find a ride there."
Her driveway is a crime scene - witness to someone slashing six of her tires.
"To get the tires, I have to find a ride to go and get the tires to get them put on."
Prochazka's two vehicles were in her driveway when they were hit by vandals late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
"The light comes on as soon as someone comes into my yard so when they were hitting these ones, that light was shining on them."
Monroe's Police Chief hopes someone sheds some light on whoever's responsible.
He says local repair shops were overwhelmed with 15 vehicles damaged within a matter of hours.
"They didn't even have some of their tires in stock to fix them all... so it became more than a damage thing. Logistically, it became a nightmare for everybody too."
Another car owner lost all 4 tires on his Grand Prix. $450 later, he has a whole new set.
"I don't know anybody who would think this is funny," the chief says.
Especially, Chief Fred Kelley says, considering the suspect could face a felony.
"It's gonna cost me at least $600," Prochazka says.
The total damage estimate is at least a few thousand dollars.
"It'll be at least a week before I can get them running again."
Harry McCarty's already replacing his tires... doing it himself but paying for it out of pocket.
Police need information: If you know anything, call Monroe Police or Green County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-I-C-CRIME.

I'm not passing off bad behavior. But, as they said, they saw what they assumed was a gun sticking out a window which ended up being a hockey stick, and we don't know for a fact if they were indeed drunk, or if that was assumed too. It was an experience shared, yes, but were the teens really behaving badly, or were they celebrating winning their hockey game? I see bad behavior from young kids and teens daily at work and think they need more parental supervision and need to learn respect. I also think that alot of parenting has gone to whatever will shut my kid up I'll let them do. I don't allow bad behavior to go unrecognized. It's amazing to me how different parents handle things. Kids are scaired when their parent speaks up and shows concern for a rule broken and wants to punish, and then there are those parents that think their kid didn't do anything wrong and we owe their child an apology for disciplining them for breaking a rule. There are some really good kids out there still
It happened to me, and I don't think Monroe is a terrible place to live, but I have lost some of my sense that it is a great place to live. I feel less safe in my own home now. (T) Why are you trying to pass off bad behavior? That's enabling. Sounded to me like (S) was just sharing their experience, which I'm glad for. More people need to speak up.
It starts as eggings, and when that gets old these bored teens progress to bigger things like tire slashings and other forms of costly vandalism. "What's next" is what really scares me, especially if alcohol is involved. I'm keeping my doors locked at all times. Parents need to know what their teens are out doing late at night. Wake up! I had a curfew when I was a teen.
