I work at a walgreens, you would be surprised at how many people come and get scripts filled in the early AM. People who work the late shifts, people coming from the hospital, or urgent care. If no one went to a walgreens at 12am, 3am, or 5am we wouldn't be 24 hours

I have actually had to get a perscription filled at 3am. I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain and was given a perscription for a narcotic. The ER only administers a dose you take in front of them, and if you take it, they cant release you unless you have a driver. (Its illegal to drive after taking a narcotic, it qualifies as an OUI). So since I was alone, they wouldnt give me anything put the peice of paper. I had to go to the Walgreens to get the vicodin so I could go home and take it. It was a rough night. Urgent Care clinics close at 11pm or earlier, and the hopsital pharmacies are closed. Walgreens are the only pharmacies open 24 hours, and thank goodness they are. But any business thats open 24 hours these days is a prime target for robbery. I wish WI would legalize Tazers so the clerks in places like Walgreens and Woodmans and gas stations could protect themselves.

I work second shift, and I'm real grateful for their flexible business hours. Any drug store can be vulnerable, but at 1am, maybe more so. I hope this does not become a trend. Maybe a security presence during these hours would help prevent this from happening in the future.
