UPDATE: Crash Kills 2 People in Rock County
Crash injures 6 people and kills 2. INSIDE: Report from the Wis. State Patrol.

Release from Wisconsin State Patrol:

On Tuesday November 24, 2009 a Fatality Crash occurred involving 2 vehicles. There were 6 people injured and 2 people fatally injured. Unit 1 was traveling SB on I39. Traffic was slowed due to unknown reason. Driver was unable to stop in safe manner and lost control of vehicle. Vehicle entered the median area and crossed into nb lanes of traffic and struck unit 2.

54 year old, Ruby Alexander from Rochester, MN was killed.

The name of the second victim is being withheld until family can be notified.

Information from the Wisconsin State Patrol:

On 11/24/2009 at 7:57 PM an incident occurred that adversely impacts traffic on the NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND lanes of INTERSTATE 39/90 near mile post 165 and NEWVILLE ROAD.

This is near the city of Edgerton in Rock County.

All lanes are affected and it could take more than two hours to clear the scene.

Alternate Route Advised:
NB TRAFFIC WILL HAVE TO EXIT AT MM 171 (HWY 14 AND HWY 26) AND WILL BE DETOURED NB ON HWY 51 TO EXIT 160 (HWY 73).

THE RIGHT LANE SB IN OPEN.

The state patrol says three vehicles were involved in the crash and there are injuries reported, but it is unknown how many people are injured or to what extent.

We were in the traffic stopped following this accident. People were driving too fast for conditions.... rain and darkness, glare off the wet roads....caused very poor visibility. My sympathy to the victims

The sickening part is, 95% of accidents WOULD NOT happen if people would just slow down and pay attention!!!!

Ken, narrow shoulders play a huge role. With increased traffic, wider shoulders are almost imperative!
