Effort Underway to Stop Puppy Mills Save Email Print

A | A | A

There is a new effort underway to stop breeders who run so-called "puppy mills."

More than 300 people met this week in Washington County.

They want law-makers to keep a closer eye on large-scale dog-breeding facilities.

This is undercover video taken more than 3 years ago, and humane society workers say conditions are still the same.

Eilene Ribbens Rohde of the Sheboygan County Humane Society says, "It's as bad as it's ever been because we are in an unlicensed, unregulated uninspected environment."

While the state does have animal cruelty laws, those only ensure an animal has food, water, and shelter.
