Press Release from the Columbus Police Department:
The Columbus Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Hibbard Street last night at approximately 11:45 p.m. A 30-year-old male at that residence was reportedly suicidal and out of control.
The subject had fled the residence when officers arrived. He was later located at a residence on S. Ludington Street. When officers were speaking with the homeowner outside the residence, the other occupants locked the doors, preventing the homeowner and police from entering.
Officers were able to make entry through another door and located the subject they were looking for. After entering the residence, a 30-year-old female resident of the house became violent and uncooperative with officers. A Taser was deployed to assist taking her into custody. Elisha M. Reynolds, age 30, was arrested and booked into the Columbia County Jail on charges of Battery to a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
The 30-year-old male was transported to Detox in Madison due to his intoxicated condition. Charges against him will be forthcoming.
To complicate matters, when the situation on S. Ludington Street was unfolding, others showed up at the residence and escalated the situation. Additional deputies from the Columbia and Dodge County Sheriff's Offices responded to bring the situation under control.

Seriously?? Can't wait for the depositions and full disclosure of the truth! In point of fact: the cops were unable to remove the taser probes (Several failed attempts)so EMT's were dispatched. After their MANY failed attempts, she had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital so a Dr. could remove them from her chest. Hmmmm... 5'7, 120 lbs. female, sober, drug free, weapon free, listening to a troubled friend in the privacy of her home when police advance through the door. Did any of the officers try to restrain her with cuffs,or use a take-down maneuver? No. How does one resist arrest if you aren't informed until after having been tased? People - be scared. Very, very scared.
From what I've heard about the incident aside from the police report from the many witnesses that were there, the officer's actions were completely unwarranted. That is what happens when you have power-crazy police officers that know there will be no ramifications for their actions. Let's hope some dispipline is taken against the officer this time. You could be next.
Jim and Joe, I don't think that I've heard a more naive statement. I don't think cop hating and law breaking are synonymous. I couldn't agree more that it is ridiculous that this made breaking news! Why does media drool over this, but when Dane County agreed to implement an unelectable and unaccountable taxation authority there was no coverage. Word of advice NBC 15, start reporting real issues or this garbage will only get worse.
