UPDATED: Saturday, February 16, 2013 --- 6: 40 p.m.

At approximately 3:15pm, Mr. Quirk was located at a gas station in Peosta, IA by Troopers from the Iowa State Patrol and Deputies from the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Quirk appeared to be in good health however he was confused as to his current location.

After making a telephone call to his wife today at approximately 12:30pm, Dane County Sheriff’s Office Detectives made contact with the cellular telephone provider who assisted in conducting a trace on the call. The results indicated the call used a cellular telephone tower in area of Peosta, IA, which is approximately 15 miles west of Dubuque. Detectives began making telephone contact with gas stations in this area at which time an employee reported recently seeing Mr. Quirk. Detectives subsequently made contact with the Iowa State Patrol and Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office requesting a check of the area in an attempt to locate Mr. Quirk. A short time later, Mr. Quirk was located at a gas station by Troopers and Deputies. Detectives are currently traveling to Peosta, IA to make contact with Mr. Quirk and return him to his residence.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone involved who assisted in helping to locate Mr. Quirk and ensuring his safe return home.

Incident: Missing Person

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 84 year old man.

Quinn Quirk, 84, of Belleville, was reported missing last evening. He was last seen Friday morning in Madison, but never returned home. Mr. Quirk is operating a grey 2005 Ford Ranger with a topper. Mr. Quirk’s physical description is a Male White, 5’11”, approximately 170 lbs, balding with grey hair and blue eyes. He also wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket, brown pants, and black boots.

Mr. Quirk called his residence at approximately 12:30pm this afternoon, and told his wife he was lost and did not know his location.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office requests any individual with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Quirk to call the Dane County Communications Center at 608-255-2345.
