From the Dane Co. Sheriff's Office:
Detectives with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office have determined inattentive driving was a contributing factor in Tuesday nights fatal crash in the town of Burke. Evidence indicates the deceased victim, Kathy A. Endsley age 51 of Baraboo, was text messaging at the time of the crash.
The driver of the semi truck was Larry L. Christensen, age 66 of New Richmond, WI. Christensen was not injured in the crash. The investigation of the crash remains open pending toxicology results from the State Crime Lab.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind motorists to give driving their full attention. According to the US Department of Transportation, in 2008 nearly 6,000 people were killed in motor-vehicle crashes where inattentive driving, including text messaging, was a factor.

Yes yes yes...we all know texting while driving is bad. HOWEVER.....show a little bit of heart. There's a good chance that family could be reading these comments and the last thing they want to see is a bunch of knuckle-heads harping and moaning about not paying attention. And haven't any of you heard the saying "don't talk ill about the dead"??? Calling them fools, especially a woman that just died, is just awful.
You know what?...wrong answer. WE NEED TO STOP TEXTING WHILE DRIVING NOW!!! These fools are not paying attention on purpose. There is absolutely no reason anyone needs to send messages while operating a motor vehicle. Some of them drive so bad I have almost called the police to report a drunk driver.
You know what...everybody needs to quit placing blame. It's the truckers fault for not waiting; it's the cars fault for not paying attention, so the fault lies on both of them. Some of you really need to get a life; because I tell you what, NOBODY pays attention ALL the time while driving. And if you say you do, then you're lying. EVERYBODY should be driving defensively, but ALOT of people don't. Instead of wasting time and energy posting accusing comments on here, why not use this time to stress to EVERYONE how important it is to drive safely and to be conscious of other drivers.
