MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Coming off a late-season run that included plenty of close victories, Marquette has been rewarded with a pleasant surprise: A higher-than-expected No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Wisconsin, meanwhile, is coming off perhaps its worst outing of the season, a Big Ten tournament loss to Illinois. The Badgers' season still was strong enough to make them a No. 4 seed.
Wisconsin faces No. 13 seed Wofford on Friday in Jacksonville, Fla.
Marquette will play No. 11 seed Washington on Thursday in San Jose, Calif.

Marquette? They're going to lose to Washington. The Badgers would be a 3 seed if it hadn't been for an off day against Illinois. I wish Marquette luck too, they'll definitely need it.
they earned the 4 seed from their body of work in the regular season (non conference too) unlike marquette - but i wish both of them well as they are our WI reps!
How is that a surprise for Marquette. They finished 5th in a far superior conference than the Badgers. Plus they actually won a few games in the conference tournament. Badgers actually are lucky to get a 4 seed.
