Alex Jacobs says pedaling people from place to place looks easy but it isn't. That's why he stopped at a local convenience store on his way home to pick up a snack. He says when he came out, his pedicab was gone.

It's similar to a mountain bike. It has a chain, pedals and gear shifts. But instead of two wheels, it has three and can seat up to four people. It's called a pedicab and it belongs to Alex Jacobs.

"I have to be on my toes when I am driving people around. Their safety is in my hands. " You can find Jacobs, the owner and operator of Badger Pedicab, out cruising the campus, giving people rides Wednesday-through-Saturday.

Jacobs used to have a fleet of two. That was until early Sunday morning when he stopped at the Open Pantry on Regent and Randall where one was stolen.

Jacobs says, " I made an assumption that it's such a public arena that no one would want to mess with it especially in the rain but that was my fault. "

Jacobs claims that he parked his pedicab right outside the Open Pantry. Then he ran inside to pick up a snack on his way home. He says he was only inside for about five to seven minutes -- but by the time he came out his pedicab was gone.

" I thought I was going to be in and out so quickly that there's no way. I was wrong. "

Jacobs says he searched the immediate area as soon as he noticed his cab was missing. But his search turned up nothing. Now, he rides around on his remaining pedicab looking for its match. He believes it's still out there and Jacobs says it would be nice to get it back.

Jacobs admits that he didn't secure the cab before he went into the Open Pantry.

He also says those pedicabs are expensive. Each of the cabs cost between $3,000 and $4,000.

Jacobs says he wasn't even finished paying it off and when you only work for tips you can't afford to take a hit like that.

Alex Jacobs was headed home early Sunday morning when he stopped at the Open Pantry on the corner of Regent and Randall.

Alex runs one of the only pedicab businesses in the city. After pedaling patrons around all night Alex says he was hungry so he parked his cab out front and ran in for a snack.

Alex says he was inside for less than 10-minutes. By the time he came out his pedicab was gone.

Now he's asking for your help and he's offering a reward. If you can help him find his pedicab he'll give you $150.

And apparently, anonymous, the owner and the cops are too stupid to look around for it hidden "down the street"? Gosh I wish you were a cop. You have it all figured out.

I don't want to go there, but I can't help but think, "Insurance?" If I made a $3-4K business investment, I would make sure it was insured. He's got to have some kind of liability insurance in case of an accident anyway. At least, I would hope he does.

Yeah locking it up would have been a good idea. Any ways what would you do with that? you cant sell it or ride it around, far to uncommon and would be caught far to easy. Sounds like some drunken idiots that probaly rode it down the street and left it in a alley. Why would you steal that in the first place. They got chop shops for pedicabs ha. Hope he gets it back.
