Even with the rain, Seth Nowak and Annie Staten say nothing can stop their mission to save the environment.

"Everything that we can do the fight global warming is a step in the right direction," says volunteer, Seth Nowak.

They're two of the 40 Sierra Club volunteers going door to door delivering free fluorescent light bulbs as a part of the Neighborhood Light Bulb Walk.

"This is a fun event, it's a win win for both parties. We get people involved with spreading the word about energy efficiency and we have more light bulbs in the community," says volunteer, Annie Staten.

The groups getting the word out that the fluorescent light bulbs use less energy, produce the same light, last longer and saves money.

"As easy as changing a light bulb when you put all those light bulbs together we're really making an impact," says Jennifer Feyerherm with Sierra Club.

The group passed out 10,000 light bulbs.

We'd like to do a project like this here in La Crosse. How did these neighbors get 10,000 bulbs to distribute?

I see John from Janesville as a person who is unwilling to change his lifestyle to benefit others - instead he has to attack those who do care and are putting their time and money into helping spread the word about the small things we can do to protect the environment. Every Sierra Club member I know is doing just that, one step at a time. They may not trade in their SUV until it wears out, but their next purchase will be a Toyota Prius, owned by me and many of my friends. They may not always leave their cars at home, but they judge each trip they make and take the the least polluting method to their destination. They will think about their next footwear purchase and judge between leather and synthetic, which is made out of petroleum, or use an alternate product like canvas. They and I buy more and more or our food from local farmers and opurchase organically grown products. They vote for political candidates who will save habitats, forests and other green space. Participate eh?

I wonder how these Sierra Club members got around? Maybe by an Automobile????? I see their hypocritcal stance as ludricris and benign seeing how they want all to do as they ask, but rarely do they follow their own advice. How many were wearing patent leather? How many own an SUV? How many live off the land? I'd love to see a story on how these people want others to live GREEN while they do not. Thanks for the opportunity to mouth off eh!
