MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen's office says state auditors should look into whether the University of Wisconsin health system is improperly funding abortion training for medical students.
The Alliance Defense Fund asked Van Hollen for an opinion on whether the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Authority is violating state law by funding medical residents' abortion training at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.
In a letter to the Legislative Audit Bureau, Assistant Attorney General Kevin Potter wrote it appears UWHCA is a state agency and can't use funds for abortions. He cautions the state Justice Department hasn't concluded UWHCA has violated the law and auditors should look investigate.
Joe Chrisman, special assistant to State Auditor Jan Mueller, had no immediate comment.
A message left at Planned Parenthood wasn't immediately returned. UWHCA spokeswoman Lisa Brunette had no immediate comment.

Really the AG can't figure this out. Sounds like he's just passing the buck. I see nothing wrong with residents learning the procedure at planned parenthood and I think the UW is a great hospital. They successfully treated by father's cancer. I like the AG but this smells like election year politics. What is he afraid of?
Does Van Hollen think he's working for Wisconsin, or the Christian right?
