A man who police say had child porn and offered money to have sex with an eight-year-old may be connected to other crimes.

Police need your help to learn more information about 39-year-old Paul Ketring of Kimball Lane in Verona.

According to police, Ketring offered an area woman $50 if she could find an 8-year-old for him to have sex with. Police seized Ketring's computer after conducting a search warrant. According to the criminal complaint, they found 270,000 still images and 3,000 video files that "depict apparent child pornography and erotica."

Joel DeSpain with the Madison Police Department says Ketring also used social networking sites, like Craigslist and Facebook, to find his prey.

Said DeSpain, "Back in the old days it would be someone hanging around a park and perhaps an arcade or a mall. You'd see this person. Now they're out there having contact with people who say they're one person and they could be completely someone else."

"It's because of those social networking sites that police need your help, because Ketring may have tried to solicit children before. Or worse yet, he may have succeeded.

"These may be predators in our mist and we don't know until it's too late sometimes," concluded DeSpain.

If you have information you can remain anonymous and may be eligible for up to a $1000 reward. Ketring faces upwards of a $100,000 fine and 40 years in prison.

MPD Detectives Seeking Additional Information

The Madison Police Department is seeking citizen help reference the recent arrest of Paul Marshall Ketring, age 39, Verona.

Mr. Ketring has been charged with Trafficking of a Child.

According to a criminal complaint, he offered an area woman $50 if she could find an 8 year old-girl to have sex with him.

A subsequent investigation has led to the seizure of a large quantity of still images and video files which may contain child pornography.

Detectives working the case believe the suspect could be connected to more crimes and they are asking anyone who may have had contact with him - in person, by phone, or through social media - to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.

Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.
