A tavern in Beloit could lose its liquor license after police claim the business brings nothing but violence to the community.

The town of Beloit chief of police is hoping to finally pull the plug on Silver Slipper Saloon's liquor license, a place he calls a hub for trouble .

The tavern's entertainment manager says he was shocked to hear of Monday's town board hearing called by the chief.

“We had no idea, they told us that everything was good and that we did handled the shooting we had correctly, "said tavern's entertainment manager, Cameron Voight.

But Beloit police see it differently, the latest shooting that happened in January in the parking lot , was the tipping point for a place they say has gotten violent over the years.

In the complaint filed, the chief listed more than five incidents that ranged from stabbings to displaying guns.

Under Wisconsin law according to the chief, the tavern is operating as a disorderly house which calls for the actions he is now trying to take.

Managers at the club are hoping Monday the chief hears them out, they say aside from being stricter by scanning I.Ds and being more selective, they are now looking into buying metal detectors or even going as far as changing services.

“There have been talks about changing strip clubs to just a bar, obviously the gentleman's bar isn't very desirable and we trying make it friendlier to the community ,"said Voight.
