There's a new trend adding some fun to a night out at a bar or restaurant.
"Have a glass of wine, and enjoy some company, and actually have something to take home with you," said Lisa Marshall,
Communications Director for The Wisconsin Department Of Tourism.
People all over Wisconsin are picking up a paintbrush and spending their evenings at an "art bar."
"whether you drink wine or a margarita, or a soda, anything goes!" said Kelly Slack, owner of Vino and Van Gogh.
Accompanied by a drink of your choice you get a group of people together. Led by an instructor, everyone paints their own masterpiece.
"The last six months to nine months we've seen these art bars cropping up in Milwaukee, Delafield, Green Bay, Madison," said Marshall.
"Don't put your paintbrush in your wine glass it's easy," said Barbara Slack. She's been to multiple Vino and Van Gogh parties.
"This is about getting together with friends maybe for a girls night out or we do corporate events," said Kelly Slack
Vino and Van Gogh has a number of instructors, and paintings to choose from. They're completely mobile and can come to your home, or host a party at a venue or restaurant. They're always willing to work with a customer for their individual needs. They even do paint your own pet parties.
The best part for beginners is that no skill or experience is needed.
"They have fun, we don't pretend that this is a full on art class," said Kelly Slack.
Thursday, they put together a lesson with a few Van Gogh veterans and some of our NBC 15 crew.
"I thought I was always a horrible artist. So it's fun to watch her do it and then do it myself. It looks kind of similar so I'm excited about it," said Ashley Matthews, NBC 15 reporter/anchor.
