From the Green County Sheriff's Office:
At 11:04 a.m., Deputies were called to Skinner Hollow Road for a report of an ATV crash with injuries.
An ATV was being operated eastbound down a grassy hill by Hayden J. Arneson, 13, of Monroe when a dog jumped in front of the ATV, causing Hayden to apply the brakes hard.
Hayden then collided with the dog, which caused the ATV to overturn end over end, ejecting Hayden and his passenger, Haley B Arneson, 11, of Monroe.
Neither individual were wearing head or eye protection. Both subjects were transported to an area hospital by private motor vehicle.
The ATV sustained severe damages and was towed by the owners from the scene. The dog did not survive the crash.
