MADISON, Wis.--- A U.W. Police officer was taken to a hospital after being involved in an accident Saturday morning.
A photo sent to NBC 15 News shows the officer's motorcycle and another vehicle after the accident.
U.W. Police spokesperson Marc Lovicott confirmed the accident happened and says the officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has been released.
Mr. Lovicott says around 7:30 this morning the officer was heading east on Regent St. when the driver of an SUV going north on Charter St. pulled out and hit the officer. The officer flipped over the motorcycle's handlebars.
The officer was on his way to escort the Tennessee Tech football team from their hotel to Camp Randall Stadium. The driver of the SUV was cited by Madison Police.
