From City of Beloit Police Department:
At approximately 11:15 hours the Fire Dept was dispatched to 920 Park Ave. for smoke in the hallway, The first arriving company advised nothing showing from the exterior. Firefighters then made their way to the floor where the smoke was reported and found heavier smoke conditions. Upon advancing further they found and apartment 113 on fire while readying to enter the apartment they found a conscious male inside and removed him to safety. Fire was knocked down quickly. Due to the size of the building and number of occupants Mutual aid was requested for additional resources from South Beloit and Town of Beloit Fire Departments, City of Beloit firefighters were also assisted by Beloit Police, Transit, Code enforcement, Red Cross and Alliant Energy. One foot note is alarms were not sounding so arriving fire companies activated the alarm system.
