UPDATE: Baldwin Outraises Thompson For Senate Race

UPDATED Monday, October 15, 2012 --- 12:40 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Democrat Tammy Baldwin has raised more money than her Republican opponent Tommy Thompson in recent months and had more cash on hand for the final push toward Election Day.

Baldwin reported Monday that she started October with $3.5 million, while Thompson said he had nearly $2 million.

Baldwin says she raised nearly $4.6 million over the three-month period that ended Sept. 30. Thompson says he raised $3.6 million.

Neither candidate's report was immediately available on the Federal Election Commission website site. Both campaigns reported some numbers from the report, but did not provide the actual paperwork they had to submit.

Polls show a tight race with three weeks to go.

Both sides say the money raised puts them in a strong position for the final push.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Democrat Tammy Baldwin says she has raised nearly $4.6 million over the three-month period that ended Sept. 30.

Baldwin's campaign said Monday that she entered October with nearly $3.5 million cash on hand. She faces Republican Tommy Thompson for Wisconsin's open U.S. Senate seat.

Both Thompson and Baldwin were required to file new quarterly reports Monday on how much money they have raised and spent over that time.

Thompson said last week that he had raised $2 million since he won the Aug. 14 Republican primary. He had not filed his report as of mid-day Monday.

Baldwin's campaign says she raised nearly $3.6 million since the primary.

Both candidates and outside groups are pouring millions into the race that polls are showing to be a dead heat.

We have got to get her out of office! She's working for the unions and special interest groups, not for the people of Wisconsin.
