Madison, WI. February 18, 2013 – Dane County Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Dane Fire Department and Waunakee EMS, responded to a barn fire at 8:33 am on CTH Y in the town of Dane.
The owner and a passerby noticed the flames and called 911, but the building is considered a total loss. The barn was used mostly for storage, but also contained about 12 chickens. All of the chickens were rescued from the fire.
The flames from the barn spread to another storage building approximately 20 feet away. Firefighters were able to extinguish that fire and contained the damage to the roof.
No one was injured and the damage estimates are not yet known. The fire does not appear suspicious in nature, but the cause has not been determined.
