MADISON--Making it to the Rose Bowl is always a big deal, but for Badger fans it's started to be kind of a regular thing.
We stopped by the Wisconsin Alumni Association today. They're offering ticket packages for the bowl game. Apparently before Alvarez's announcement, sales of packages were down a bit compared to the last couple of years.
But it's looking like the chance to see a living Wisconsin legend prowling the sidelines may be too much for some to resist.
We're told they've seen a spike in sales since this story started to break last night. "It's really exciting that he's going to be back on the field," said Paula Bonner, the president and CEO of the Wisconsin Alumni Association. "We had a real lift in our reservations for the tour overnight. As people started hearing about that a lot more calls came into the front office with interest in tickets and pre-game huddles and that kind of thing."
So how much of a boost is that Barry-effect worth? We'll have to see what happens over the next few days, but Bonner says they saw around a 10-12 percent bump overnight.
