The U.W. student hospitalized for bacterial meningitis has died.
21-year-old Henry Mackaman was an Economics and English major.
Friends say Mackaman was obsessed with guitar. He was in the band "Phantom Vibration." Those who knew him best say he could play with the soul and intensity of Hendrix. They say his writing talents ranged from music and lyrics to a play that was produced in Madison.
Aside from playing music, Mackaman was a DJ at WSUM, the student radio station on the U.W. campus. There he had a show called "The Grooving Tree."
NBC 15 sat down and spoke with one of Mackaman's band mates and best friends, Zack Stafford. Stafford says Mackaman was incredibly inspiring.
"He was always smiling, He was always joking. He would just always bring positivity to whatever he was doing" says Stafford.
Mackaman is an organ donor, He'll help save 7 lives and up to 70 other people will benefit.
A funeral for Mackaman will be held next Saturday, April 20, in St. Paul, Minnesota. There's no specific time or location at this time. Stay tuned to NBC 15 and nbc15.com for the latest information.
