Janesville Police tell us officers were dispatched to the area of the Rock River West of the Monterey Dam.

15-year-old Kody Finfrock was fishing when he thought he possibly saw a body.

"I just looked again because I didn't believe I [saw] it," Finfrock said, adding that he "went and got [his] bike and ... just drove down to the bait shop."

That's where the owner of the shop, Shawn McCarten, proceeded to call 9-1-1 before returning back to where Finfrock spotted the body.

"It was over on the other side of the river," McCarten said.

Officers checked the area and located a body approximately 15 to 20 feet from shore

Janesville Fire Department was requested to assist with recovering the body.

Authorities say the body was of a female estimated to be in at least her sixties.

The identity is unknown at this time.

Police say there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.
