Not everyone is guaranteed a hot meal on Thanksgiving. But a local organization is trying their hardest to make sure that doesn't happen.

It's a moment etched in time with the flash of camera and for a Aiesha Malone and her two kids, Domonic and Neveah, a rare family portrait.

Malone and her kids are just a few of the people that volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County planned to serve Thanksgiving Day dinner to at their Jenewein road location.

For Trivia Day things could be better. She's been out of work for two years. With no income Day and her kids have had to rely on their friends for shelter during this difficult time. Despite that Day is thankful for this free, hot meal and what she does have.

Day says, " I'm thankful to be alive. I'm thankful to be healthy. I'm just thankful to be able to see another day. "

Volunteers started working last night to prep the building and the food.
About 1,000 people were expected to show up for the free meal. That's nearly double the attendance of last year.

Food, music, portraits and games were just part of today's event.
The most important was respect.

The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County Executive Director, Michael Johnson says, " We want to be able to love on people when they walk in. We don't want people to feel like this is a soup kitchen. "

Despite what may have happened before and what will happen after today for a few hours these folks had something to be thankful for.
