One Marshall family is grieving the loss of their daughter, who took her own life Tuesday evening.
Her parents say bullying is one the reasons behind why Alena Nightoak took her life.
The freshman struggled with depression, anxiety and was in both group and individual counseling.
Alena Nightoak always took a stand against bullying , it's one of the things her friends say she disliked the most.
Last October she posted on video on You Tube speaking on the issue and saying how sometimes she was a victim herself.
"What she believed is that it was not enough to not bully somebody, you had to stand up for people and you had to be proactive about it," said Alena's mother, Michelle Nightoak.
