From the City of Beloit:

Beloit, WI – City of Beloit Fire Chief Bradley Liggett has rescinded the ban on recreational burning and fireworks effective immediately.

Yards are starting to green-up after the recent storms.

Beloit Fire Department conducted burn tests that revealed that conditions were safe for recreational fires. Chief Liggett cautions that many tall grasses and trees are still tinder dry. These are conditions we typically see in the fall when vegetation goes dormant for the winter.

If you decide to use your recreational fire pit, please have a water source available to extinguish any fire that may occur. For further information regarding outdoor fires in the City of Beloit, please see City Ordinance 6.03(1)(a)(3) on the City of Beloit web site at: www.ci.beloit.wi.us or visit any City of Beloit Fire Station for a printed copy of the ordinance.

Please follow the city recreational fire code when burning – remember to always practice fire safety inside and outside of your home – have a Fire Safe Summer!
