Child Hit After Exiting School Bus; Driver Cited

Press Release from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department:

February 4, 2013 3:38 p.m.

Deputies along with South Wayne Fire Department, South Wayne First Response and Monroe Ambulance responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on STH 11 in Wayne Township.

Angela S. Goebel, 41, Graiot, was traveling westbound when she passed a legally stopped School District of Black Hawk bus being operated by Roger L. Jackson, 73, Browntown. The bus had its red flashing lights activated and stop arm extended.

Goebel struck a 6-year-old female who had gotten off the bus and was going into the driveway of her residence. The 6-year-old was transported by ambulance to the Monroe Clinic ER for treatment of injuries.

Goebel was cited for failure to stop for a stopped school bus and failure to have control of a motor vehicle.
