Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:
Incident Type: Fraud
Incident Date: 01/27/2013 - 3:53 PM
Address: 3800 block E. Washington Ave.
A confused 27-year old man contacted the MPD’s Self Report Unit (SRU) Sunday after a message popped up on his computer indicating child pornography had been found on his laptop. It appeared to be from the Department of Justice (DOJ), and indicated he had 48-hours to get rid of the porn, and that he needed to send $300 via a MoneyPak card. The SRU officer told the caller that the DOJ did not operate in this fashion, and that this was a scam.
