Incident Type: Fraud

Incident Date: 11/03/2012 - 2:58 PM

Address: N. Lake St. near Langdon St.

Suspect(s): Male, black, early 20's, 6', average build, wearing basketball shorts, sneakers and a sweater.

Victim: Female, age 25, Madison

Details: In the end, she got only $20 for her $120 computer monitor. That's because the man who purchased it gave her one real $20 bill and 5 fakes. The 25-year old victim had advertised the like-new monitor on Craigslist and was contacted by a man willing to pay the full asking price.

She met with him near her downtown residence Saturday and he handed her 6 bills. Shortly after he left with her monitor, she realized the only legitimate 20 was the one on top of the stack of 6. The bogus 20's all had the same serial number: JG05178338B.
