UPDATE: Family Escapes Mazomanie House Fire

Mazomanie, WI October 11, 2012 — Three Red Cross disaster responders awoke early to help Mazomanie residents displaced by a house fire this morning. The Red Cross provided lodging and food to meet their immediate needs. The Red Cross will continue to provide follow up services to the family.

Information from the Dane County Sheriff's Department:

At approximately 11:43 p.m. Dane County Sheriff Deputies, along with along with Mazomanie, Black Earth, Town of Berry, and Sauk City Fire Departments responded to 10376 Curtiss Road for a report of a structure fire.

Neighbors from across the street at 10385 Curtiss Road observed the fire, called 911, and awoke the sleeping adult female and her 16-year-old son in the burning home. Three dogs were also rescued from the home. There were no injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a chimney fire is to blame. The tri-level home is considered a total loss. Damage estimates are unknown at this time.

    That would be the Cross Plains-Berry Fire Dept. It says it on the side of the trucks.

    Town of Berry, doesn't have a fire dept.
