Male, age 24
Victims are loss prevention officers for Macy's.

Details: Two loss prevention officers were punched multiple times as they tried to stop a thief outside of the Macy's store at the Hilldale Shopping Center Thursday afternoon. The shoplifter had used some type of instrument to remove the theft detection device off of a $145 pair of Polo cargo pants. As the loss prevention officers struggled on the ground with the combatant, two private security officers arrived to help.

Working in concert, they were able to handcuff the suspect. When police arrived, the accused shoplifter was asked what happened. He claimed two men jumped him while he was walking outside of the store. When asked if he knew why the men had approached him, he said: “I plead the 5th on that part." Later, while on his way to jail, he remarked from the back of a squad car, " I can't believe they went that far for only $145," evidently referring to the price of the cargo pants.
