According to the Madison Police Department, officers located a vehicle Saturday that had been stolen from a pizza delivery driver in Fitchburg on Friday.
While officers were attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver, Daniel A. Smith, drove off. While negotiating a turn, Smith struck an uninvolved, occupied, stopped vehicle near South Whitney Way and Hammersley Rd. in Madison, officers said.
Smith and passenger Jacquese T. Murphy then fled from police on foot. Murphy was apprehended at the scene and Smith was apprehended a short time later.
No one from the victim vehicle was injured. One of the six subjects in the stolen vehicle sustained significant but non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.
Smith was arrested and charged with resisting an officer, possession of marijuana, probation hold, hit and run, and failure to render aid. Murphy was arrested for possession with intent to distribute, resisting an officer, and bail jumping.
Two other passengers of the suspect vehicle were also arrested. Joshua D. Johnson was arrested for a probation hold and Marcus A. McGee was arrested for possession of marijuana.
