VIDEO REPORT: DATCP: Be Mindful of Security on Cyber Monday

Posted Sunday, November 25, 2012 --- 8:45 p.m.

Many shoppers are looking for online deals this Cyber Monday. But, before logging on this, you'll want to think about your cyber security.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says it's important for online shoppers to know exactly where they are putting their money.

If your shopping online, DATCP recommends that shoppers always look for encrypted sites. Make sure there is an "s" at the end of the "http". The "s" stands for secure transactions.

Also when shopping online, try to shop from home. Public computers and unsecured wireless connections could increase the chances of identity theft.

Make sure to shop using brand named browsers like Firefox or Google Chrome. Before signing off, make sure to get a receipt or confirmation number to track your purchase.
