MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Conservation Congress have formed a new fishing advisory group.

Dubbed the Wisconsin Fisheries Advisory Council, the group includes 16 representatives from fishing and tourism organizations including Walleyes for Tomorrow and Trout Unlimited. The council will advise the DNR's fisheries management board and the congress on statewide issues ranging from the DNR's long-term fisheries plan to balancing anglers' competing interests.

The first council meeting is set for March 29 at the Mead Wildlife Area visitor's center near Stevens Point. The agenda includes discussion of statewide planning efforts for panfish, trout, sturgeon and walleye.
