DNR Deliberately Setting Fire To Public Land

Posted Sunday, November 4, 2012 --- 8:20 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Department of Natural Resources will be doing some controlled burning on public land in Wisconsin this fall.

The DNR says the fires are an ecological and economic way to limit unwanted plants that overcrowd native vegetation. The agency says the burning also stimulates prairie grass and improves the habitat for game and waterfowl.

The fires also improve cover for pheasants and other nesting birds and help create pockets of open water for waterfowl in low areas.

Prescribed burns in the state's south central region are scheduled in Columbia, Dane, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Lafayette, Rock, Sauk, Walworth and Waukesha counties this fall.

The DNR, used to mean "The gatekeepers of our Natural Resources", now it means "A Political ideology". I hope I am wrong, but I have seen the same blueprint in Texas. I lived there for almost 8 years, and I saw their work at hand by developing fenced hunting land for the elite to hunt in a controlled atmosphere to guarantee a kill, and then I saw that Gov. Walker took in the Texas man to oversee Wisconsin's Natural Resources and I shivered to think that they are going to do the same thing here in Wisconsin. I see that lately the State is buying more land that I suspect is heading in that direction, so, my warning is this, be ever watchful over the moves made by the DNR, they are not necessarily our friends anymore.
