Dane County's Emergency Management Director is warning drivers to be extra cautious on the roads Friday morning because of fog.
The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the majority of southern Wisconsin for Friday from 3 a.m. to noon. Visibility is expected to be from near zero to a quarter mile.
Director J. McLellan says conditions could be even worse than back in 2008 when heavy fog caused a several accidents and a long stand-still on the I-39/90 near the Beltline.
"Don't over-drive your visibility. Be ready to stop and to go extremely slow," he said.
McLellan says drivers will definitely want to leave themselves extra time for their commute Friday morning. You should also be sure to turn on their fog lights, even if they already have day-time running lights. And don't use your brights since that can impair other drivers.
