Release from Darlington Police:
14-year-old Adriana Andrade has been found in Liberal, KS. She is reported by Liberal Police to be in good health and is being detained by them while her family makes arrangements to drive to Kansas to be reunited with her.
22-year-old Marcos Mermudez-Sanchez, the man accused of taking Adriana away from Darlington without parental consent, is in Liberal Police custody. Marcos is being held by Liberal Police on charges of Obstructing Justice, Aggravated Interference with Custody, and Aggravated Indecent Liberties.
The Darlington Police Department worked with the Liberal Police Department to bring this matter to a close after tracking a cell phone used by Marcos to Liberal, KS earlier today. DPD was notified at 8:14 PM that Liberal Police had found Adriana with Marcos and took them both into custody.
Marcos will remain jailed in Kansas to face local charges but will also face charges in Wisconsin. The matter will be referred to the Lafayette County District Attorney's Office for review and a final charging decision.
In addition to the Liberal (KS) Police Department, the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing & Exploited Children, and the Wisconsin Crime Alert Network (all entities of the Wisconsin Department of Justice) assisted with the investigation.

Information from the Darlington Police Department:
The 14-year-old child, Adrianna, is still missing. We believe, based upon findings to date, she left Darlington willingly with the 22-year-old suspect but we are treating the matter as if Adrianna is endangered because we have no way of confirming her safety right now since we cannot reach either individual.
We are currently working with the Wisconsin Department of Justice to utilize their resources at the Dept. of Criminal Investigation and the Center for Missing & Exploited Children. We have cause to believe the two individuals have left the state.
The 22-year-old identified in previous news releases is considered a suspect in violation of Wis. Stats. 948.31, which is called Interference with Custody of a Child, and is a Class I felony.
