UPDATE: Body Found in Rock River Identified as Missing Man

The body of a man was found along the Rock River in the Town of Beloit Sunday night. Police are still investigating the case.

UPDATED Tuesday, April 23, 2013 --- 10:00 a.m.

Press Release from Janesville Police:

On 04-22-2013 an autopsy was conducted on a body found in the Rock River in the Town of Beloit.

The identity of the body was confirmed as Ryhene Jamel Thomas DOB 06-10-1987.

The cause of death is drowning. No foul play is suspected.

Mr. Thomas was reported missing by relatives in December of 2012.

Press Release from the Town of Beloit Police Department

On 04-21-13, at approximately 5:55 PM, Town of Beloit officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Pow Wow Trail in the Town of Beloit. A citizen walking along the river bank had discovered a body in the river and reported it. The body was face up in the river and was approximately 5 feet from the west bank of the Rock River. Divers from the Rock County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the recovery. The subject, a black male, has not yet been positively identified, nor has the cause of death been determined. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
