On Monday, October 29 at 11:51 a.m. Cottage Grove Police and Fire, as well as Deer-Grove Ambulance responded to crash involving a pedestrian on STH 12/18 west of CTH BN in the Town of Cottage Grove.
Cottage Grove Police Chief Chris Hughes states the early stages of the investigation reflect a 41 year old Deerfield woman parked her vehicle on the shoulder of the highway and was struck by a passing semi truck and trailer.
Police are still trying to determine why the female was in the traffic lane. “At this time we are not releasing any additional information due to this being an ongoing investigation and the need to notify the next of kin”, Hughes stated.
The driver of the semi truck, a 22 year old male from Brancroft, WI, did not sustain any injuries.
However, the pedestrian had succumb to her injuries on the scene. “The Medical Examiner’s Office, will be issuing a press release in regard to the identity of the deceased driver”, Hughes stated.
Police have called in the Dane County Sheriff’s Reconstruction Unit and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
