During the winter, most drivers worry about snow and ice. But, there's another problem many forget, one that's just as serious...fog.
Fog can appear any time of year. But, you're most likely to see it in the winter, making it harder to see much of anything else.
From traffic jams to traffic accidents, fog isn't something to take lightly. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, dense fog is a factor in 1200 car accidents, every year, leading to 700 injuries and 16 roadway fatalities.
On the ground, the fog helped create quite a mess, around Dane County, Tuesday. The Dane County Sheriff's Department says they saw about five weather-related crashes.
In the air, it was the same situation. At the Dane County Regional Airport, several people were forced to hang around longer than expected. The dense fog led to several cancellations of flights heading both to and from Chicago.
