Press Release from the Iowa County Sheriff's Office:

On September 23, 2012 at approximately 3:58 a.m. the Iowa County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash on State Road 23 north of Goldmine Road in the Town of Dodgeville.

There were four occupants in the vehicle that was being driven northbound on State Road 23 by Ryan A K Wells, age 22 of Lone Rock, WI. The vehicle traveled into the ditchline of State Road 23 where it struck a field driveway, went airborne and overturned.

One of the three passengers, Wyatt D Caygill, age 17 of Dodgeville, was ejected from the vehicle and killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Iowa County Deputy Coroner Wendell Hamlin.

The other two passengers, Tory C Rowe, age 16 of Spring Green, and Beran J Kiefer, age 20 of Lone Rock, along with the driver of the vehicle, were transported to Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.

Seatbelts were used by the driver of the vehicle. Alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
