From Madison Police:

Three downtown business employees detained 31 year old Dustin Bredlau, a graffiti suspect, on State Street last night after several buildings were tagged with purple spray paint.

One, who works at State Street's Osaka Lounge, witnessed the suspect leaving his mark on the nearby facade of Pipefitters.

He went out to confront the paint wielding man, and the suspect tried to punch him.

Two employees of Soga Restaurant saw what was happening and went to the victim's aid. One ended up being kicked, the other punched.

In the end, the suspect was tackled and police arrived moments later to make the arrest. Investigating officers found seven buildings tagged with purple spray paint.

Bredlau is now facing several tentative charges including graffiti and battery.
