Driver Arrested After Crashing into Tree

Arrested: Noelle M. Hart, age 39, Fitchburg
Ms. Hart was arrested for Operating While under the Influence - 5th offense, Possession of Schedule II Narcotic, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating After Suspension - 3rd offense, Failure to have Control of Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.

Details: A Fitchburg woman was arrested for her 5th offense of driving under the influence after she steered her car into a tree near the intersection of S. Whitney Way and South Hill Drive last night.

Witnesses said the woman and a male passenger tried to walk away from the heavily damaged car, but that the driver ended up staying at the scene. She indicated she had consumed one beer, and acknowledged past heroin use, although she claimed not to have used heroin in the past couple of weeks.

She told an officer that she had taken a Xanax pill prior to the crash. A number of needles were seized from the damaged car, as were other items typically used to ingest drugs.
