From the Green County Sheriff's Department:
At 3:52 P.M. (September 21, 2012), Deputies, along with the Brodhead Fire Department, Brodhead Area EMS, Brodhead Police Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol responded to STH 11 at STH 81/CTH GG, Town of Spring Grove, for a three vehicle crash with injuries.
Investigation revealed that Martinez G. Cruz, age 27 of Monroe, was turning westbound onto STH 11 from STH 81 when he lost control of his vehicle in the intersection.
The Cruz vehicle was struck by an eastbound semi being operated Daniel R. Lawinger, age 46 of Monroe.
After Cruz's vehicle was struck, it rolled east into a vehicle being operated by Jennifer A. Newcomer, age 27 of Monroe.
Cruz, Newcomer, and Newcomer's 10-month-old passenger, were all transported from the scene by EMS for injuries sustained in the crash.
Lawinger reported injuries but declined EMS.
Cruz, Newcomer, and Lawinger reported seatbelt use. Newcomer reported that her passenger was in a child safety seat. There was no airbag deployment in each of the vehicles involved.
The Cruz vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. The Newcomer vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Lawinger's semi sustained moderate damage was driven from the scene.
Cruz will be cited for operating while suspended and further citations are pending.
