From the Green County Sheriff's Department:
On Saturday, December 3, 2011 at approximately 1:04 AM, Green County Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on STH 92 near Freidig Road in Brooklyn Township.
An investigation revealed a vehicle owned by Lance J. Ries, 32 of Viroqua, WI was eastbound on STH 92 when it failed to negotiate a curve sliding sideways off the Highway into the north ditch line. The vehicle then collided with several trees causing it to go airborne, overturn and come to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle. The airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained very severe damages and was towed from the scene.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and did not report the crash.
Continued investigation found that Ries was the operator at the time of the crash.
Ries was not injured and he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Ries was cited for too fast for conditions, failure to fasten seat belt, operate a motor vehicle without insurance, fail to report crash to police, hit and run property adjacent to a highway, and fail to notify Department of Transportation of an address change.
Ries was given a future Court date.
