Suspected Drunk Driver Nearly Hits Car In Janesville

Information from the Janesville Police Department:

On 09-23-2012 at 2:42 A.M. Officer Todd Radloff witnessed a vehicle turning northbound on Milton Av. from E. Centerway St. driving erratically and nearly striking a second vehicle after leaving the lane of travel. Officer Radloff stopped the vehicle and made contact with the operator identified as Bruce W. Southall, age 30, of Janesville.

Southall had a strong odor of intoxicants on his breath, poor balance, and failed standardized field sobriety. Southall admitted to drinking 2-3 mixed alcoholic drinks prior to operating his vehicle. A legal blood draw was performed at Mercy Hospital North. The results of the blood test are unknown at this time.

Southall had 4 prior OWI convictions. Southall is currently on federal probation. He had a valid driver’s license at the time of his arrest. Southall is being held at the Rock County Jail on a charge of OWI 5th offense.
