The Madison Mayor's office says that the city will provide funding to continue the Elver Park Fireworks this summer with a show scheduled for July 3rd.
“While a downtown Rhythm and Booms on June 28 is sure to be a spectacular event, the neighbors of Elver Park spoke out regarding their wishes for a neighborhood event,” Mayor Paul Soglin is quoted in a release. “For this year, the City is able to fund this event, in the future we look forward to working with the Alders and neighbors on the Southwest side, to find a more sustainable source of funding.”
The Madison Parks Department has contracted with Bartolotta Fireworks Company for the display. Police will be on hand for the event as well.
Private funding for the Elver Parks Fireworks was lost, which is why the city is funding the event.
Neighbors in the Warner Park area are planning a smaller neighborhood event as well. The Madison Mallards are providing a small fireworks show for that July 5th event.
