The name of the deceased driver is identified as CHANDLER A. PALMER, age 49, of Mauston, WI.

Release from Columbia County Sheriff's Office:
On October 27, 2011 at 1:06pm the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a two vehicle crash on STH 33 ¼ mile west of STH 146. This location is 2 miles north of the Village of Cambria.
The Sheriff’s Office preliminary investigation confirms that a passenger car travelling east on STH 33 crossed the centerline and was struck head-on by a pickup truck that was traveling west on STH 33.
The driver of the passenger car was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to Divine Savior Hospital, Portage with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the crash site by the Randolph Police Department, Cambria Fire and EMS, Randolph EMS, and UW Hospital – MedFlight.
