Release from Rock County Sheriff's Office:

On Saturday February 4, 2012 at 2:30pm, Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office along with Janesville, Milton and Edgerton Fire Departments were dispatched to a residential fire at 545 E. Russell Rd. Emergency personnel began arriving a few minutes later and noticed smoke and flames coming from the north side of the residence near the attached garage.

The fire departments were able to contain and extinguish the fire quickly, which limited the amount of damage to the residence. The homeowner, Jamie Wiser, was home at the time of the fire and alerted 911 when smoke was detected coming from a garage vent.

The fire is believed to have resulted in faulty wiring, but remains under investigation at this time by fire investigators. The house sustained moderate fire and smoke damage.

Emergency crews remained on scene until approximately 4:00pm and Russell Rd between Newville Rd and Hwy 51 were closed due to emergency traffic in the area.
