Details: A dispute between two teenagers, which included trading insults on Facebook, escalated into a melee at Elver Park Wednesday afternoon. The two feuding girls: ages 14 and 16, were not arrested, but members of their respective families were. The girls had arranged to meet at the city park around 3:30 p.m. Each brought a contingent of friends and family.

According to several witnesses, family members stepped in between the girls in an attempt to stave off violence between the girls. Unfortunately, several adults did not keep the peace with each other.

One mother got out a small baseball bat and used it to strike others. That led to punches being thrown. And, at one point, a 16-year old boy grabbed an orange snow marker stick - used to guide plow drivers - and turned it into a weapon. When the first officer rolled up, he saw 20 to 25 people in the midst of a "physical altercation" in the parking lot.

There were no serious injuries, although one combatant had a golf ball sized bump on her forehead after being whacked with the mini bat.
